Temporary things have a way of lasting too long. When we first fenced the garden this spring, we threw up some simple flexible plastic fencing in the gate spaces. This worked surprisingly well — while it was never pretty, it was functional enough that we left what was originally meant to be a stopgap for a few days up for 3 months. Recently we noticed that something had chewed through the plastic, though, and that convinced us it was time to get a real gate.
My parents were in town this weekend, and while I was clearing the brush from the south pasture Dad built a nice gate for the front of the garden.
