How to garden in your jammies and still listen to podcasts.

Sometimes in the morning after Josh and the kids are off to work and school I want to duck outside for a minute and do a few things in the garden.  I often think that I will be out there for just a minute.  One thing leads to another, and I find myself outside for a bit of time.  I frequently find myself wishing I had my phone to take a photo of something or to listen to a podcast (and here comes a first world problem):  MY JAMMIES DON’T HAVE POCKETS!

I stopped for a minute while outside today to pout about my dilemma, but then a flash of insight….

Enter my husbands gym sock from the pile of of lost soles!

(and yes, those are our kitchen scissors, the same ones that we try to reserve for kitchen-only things. I did the sock cutting at the kitchen table. Does that count?)

Anyway back to the task at hand, I cut the top off the sock.

I then put it around my arm and tucked my phone in and grabbed my other camera so I could take a lovely photo of me in my jammies in the mirror.

Now before you go thinking I am so creative or innovative, I must confess, I did not come up with this idea. Earlier in the summer I read this post on The Art of Doing Stuff. I filed her idea for an iphone armband away in my head for that day when I decided to start running (ha!). I really thought that day would never come (and it hasn’t) but the day did come to put this little innovation into practice.

And the skies opened up……I now can garden, take photos and listen to the last 20 Chicken Thistle Farm Coopcasts in my jammies…. What a wonderful day!
